T8S: Tuner, Reverb, Trim, Aux

Tonematch T8s

1.    A firmware update to fix Tuner,   The tuner is as erratic in a live environment, its difficult to get and accurate reading, even when all channels are muted,

2 . A newer firmware update to fix the reverb,  even with the latest update the reverb still needs tweaked, the latest update is a vast improvement however I still think the reverb needs to clearer, and less muddy,  ( the original tonematch reverb is still 100% better) the difference between 20% and 25% on the settings to much,

Also the reverb is effecting the clarity of the excellent preamps in the t8s mixer.

3.  The Gain setting knobs are not the reflective of the digital input screen levels on the digital display,  so the channel is set via the gain level knob, keeping the lights bellow red,  however with the levels on the digital display screen it shows the channel is peeking.  extra tweaking is required to prevent feedback , this means setting the gain levels with the channel unmuted, on trial and error,   not that professional,   especially when with the original tonematch we could sell all levels with all channels muted,

4. When setting the AUX levels on the t8s its difficult when in a live stage setting, extra dialling is required to get back to the Aux setting,  for example I set the aux setting for the our monitor, then perhaps dial to the tuner,  to get get back to the Aux volume, I have to dial back to PAN/AUX, dial down to AUX 1 then adjust the volume,

Very time you dial away from the Pan/Auz scene, you have to click back though PAN , back through AUX 1,      on the other scenes once you dial away from them and go back to them they are at the same screen settings that they where last edited.

Please ensure you have selected the CH EDIT button for the channel connected to the instrument you want to tune.

What kind of instrument are you tuning?

  • Electric Guitar
  • Acoustic Guitar
  • Other instrument

Are you connected directly by a cable to a pickup or a microphone?

even when all channels are muted,

The mute buttons do not affect the way the tuner operates, but muting the channel of your instrument will prevent the sound of the tuning process being heard by the audience.

I just tuned my acoustic guitar (with under saddle pickup) with music blaring in the background through an L1 nearby. I was connected directly to channel 1. With the channel 1 CH EDIT button selected I was able to tune the guitar.

How are you using the tuner?

2 . I'm sorry you aren't happy with the reverb in the T8S ToneMatch mixer.  Bose went through several rounds of testing internally and with customers to arrive at the changes in firmware version 1.1.4.

For those reading along; the T4S/T8S have a different reverb engine than the T1.  You can read about the difference here: T4S/T8S ToneMatch® Mixer Reverb

3.  The Gain setting knobs are not the reflective of the digital input screen levels on the digital display,  so the channel is set via the gain level knob, keeping the lights bellow red,  however with the levels on the digital display screen it shows the channel is peeking.  extra tweaking is required to prevent feedback , this means setting the gain levels with the channel unmuted, on trial and error,   not that professional,

I just double checked and I see a strong correlation between the input trim lights and the behavior of the digital display.

Are you looking at the Input Levels?

Turn the Rotary Selector to Prefs

Select Input Levels

especially when with the original tonematch we could sell all levels with all channels muted,

In the video I used the Mute buttons to demonstrate that you can set the levels wiht the channels muted.

It takes two steps to get to individual Aux Send levels is because there multiple Aux outputs. In the T1, there was only one Aux output. With the T8S, there are four. You have to choose if you want control Pan or Aux. Then you have to choose which Aux send you want to control.

Very time you dial away from the Pan/Auz scene, you have to click back though PAN , back through AUX 1,      on the other scenes once you dial away from them and go back to them they are at the same screen settings that they where last edited.

On the other effects (e.g., Mod ), you can only have one Mod effect active at a time. When you turn the rotary selector to Mod, you see either Bypass or the one active Mod effect.  If you turn the rotary selector away and back again, you see the same thing: Bypass or the one Active Mod effect.

When you turn the rotary selector to Pan/Aux you see Pan by default and if you want to make changes to the Aux outputs, you have to choose which one to control. The T8S cannot simply default to the active Aux output because it's possible to have more than Aux output active.

Thanks for the update,

I'm tuning my acoustic guitar direct in to the T8s,  the edit button on the channel i am using.

and the tuner needle is bouncing about,  it difficult to tune,   I tried with both my maton and Takamine guitars,  it there a tuner reset on the t8s?

I'm aware that Bose worked hard on the reverb, I wondering are there planning to tweak the reverb any more on future firmware updates,

Ill will probe further over the next few days with the trim and digital input,

Thanks for the prompt reply

Try turning up the volume to maximum on the guitars when you are tuning them. Does the trim light light up when you hit the string for tuning? If not, the level is to low.

You can perform a T8S Factory Reset (this affects everything except the updates to firmware)

Bose doesn't comment on changes that may or may not be in development.
