Uneven sound voume - left earbud

Hi, I have an irritating problem with my Quiet Comfort noise cancelling earbuds that I bought two days ago in the UK.

The volume between the right and left ears is the same up to a low-moderate volume level. When I increase the volume, there is no increase in the left ear, but the right ear gets louder, so there is an irritating imbalance between the two ears.

The probelm is the same on three separate devices - iPhone 6S 14.4.2, iMac and Macbook Pro. iMac and MBPro OS is completely up to date. 

The problem only starts after about low to mid volume.

The music app is telling me the firmware is up to date.

The music app was only downloaded and installed two days ago for the first time, so I assume it is up to date.

I stress that all my device software is up to date and the problem is the same across all three devices.

Batteries are 100%

All help appreciated. This is disappointing for  a brand new product.

Pleased to say that after searching around on the web for a solution, this worked:

 

put the earbuds in the charging case, closed lid;

plugged the charging case into a USB wall socket charger for at least 5 seconds;

unplugged charging case from the wall socket;

then unplugged the USB cable from the charging case for at least 1 minute.

 

This must have performed some kind of reset, because everything was fine after this.
