Hi, I,ve been using my L1 with 1S power stand and B2 Bass Module c/w tonematch for the last 4 years and been very happy with it . I normally play at social clubs with maximum 200 people and It's handled everything very well.
However, i did a gig on new years eve in a venue approx. 300 people . I,m in Scotland and these gigs can get very noisy ,
I found my system was struggling to cope with the size / noise of the crowd.
My Question is what do i need to upgrade, to handle this size of venue . Bearing in mind this gig is only once a year,
Any suggestions or advice welcome
Thanks
Eddie

That's terrific. I'm delighted your L1 Model 1S is serving you well.

An L1 Model II would be a better choice for your New Years' Eve gigs.

Can you rent an L1 Model II for these once-a-year gigs?
If not, an L1 Model II might be a good investment anyway. The overall system weight is only 8 pounds (3.3 kg) heavier than your L1 Model 1S but it will handle a larger, noisier audience. The extra weight is in the lower section of the Cylindrical Radiator® which contains twelve drivers, like the upper section in your L1 Model 1S.
Note: the L1 Model II is slightly taller than the L1 Model 1S.
Model 1S
79.4"
2018 mm
Model II
84.0"
2134 mm
If you play in venues with low ceilings, this might matter to you.
I have both, and for smaller rooms, there is very little difference. However, I prefer the L1 Model II. In side-by-side comparisons at the same stage volume, the L1 Model II projects farther. This generally means I can play at a lower stage volume with the L1 Model II than the L1 Model 1S. I prefer that.
I had the same dilemma but my comparable system is practically the same as yours except for my two B1 bass enclosures instead of your B2. What I did to compliment or increase the output was to buy 2 S1 Pros, put them on stands and plug one into the MASTER OUT of my T1 and daisy chain from THAT one to my second S1 Pro...both of the latters' volumes are only at 10 o'clock but fills out the room very nicely. I conveniently run EVERYTHING except the base stand on batteries. Then, when I practice at home or have smaller sized gigs, I sometimes use just the Si Pros. Played at a 300 gig the other day with 40 kids dancin' around and with two buddy musicians in the crowd that told me it sound GREAT! Really like my L1 IS but LOVE my S1 Pros.
Thanks ST and Louis, for your suggestions. I'll have to look further into both set ups. The main problem i see is , for one night a year, is the extra cost worth it ? I,m 70 now and don't do nearly as many gigs as i used to. I'll maybe look to hiring for that one night.
I know exactly where you're coming from Eddie. I'm 68 myself, which is mostly the reason I have 2 B1's instead of one B2. My lifting limit is 28 lbs. Ha! I've owned and used many makes of excellent mixers, speakers and effects throughout my career, but owing an S1 Pro is one of my happiest privileges that I've EVER had. And you know what's BETTER than an S1 Pro?!
TWO S1 Pros! I have NEVER had such a no-regret purchase and feel sorry for anyone who does not have at least one. Do yourself a favor and at least look into these 'cause you will always be using them.
We all seem to be of a similar age (I'm 68) and have probably tried many different set ups over the years. Although my L1 m1 is awesome with either 2 x B1s or a B2 my preferred setup now is an L1s with one or two B1s and occasionally in conjunction with my wonderful S1 Pro (which I use on its own for smaller gigs). This is mainly due to their lighter weight, ease of fitting in my car boot and the lower ceiling headroom that the L1s offers. The B2 and L1m1 spend most of their time under my stairs!
Hey Andy. Know where you're coming from and thanks for your comment. Most of the time, my gigs are smaller too where my two S1's are perfect. There a couple where I only needed ONE and left people unbelievable to what was coming out. Some gigs (two rooms so far) I just need the L1 IS but I did one the other day where I needed EVERYTHING I had. Put the S1's on stands and plugged them in my T1. Perfect! Set-up in 20 minutes and only needed one AC plug for my L1 IS base...everything ran on batteries and fit in my sedan trunk...awesome! Sometimes and for most gigs too, I wonder if I should have gotten 2 more S1's instead of the L1 IS with the T1 and 2 B1's. Probably would've done the trick with even less storage room, weight and setup.
