Using Kickgate on Tom?

I just got a T8 mixer and I had a T4 so I run the t4 into 9/10 input for 12 channels.  This frees us up for full drum micing with tone prints etc.

1!first off Bose needs to expand sounds for Tom’s and snares and gates.

For now I have been using kickgates on Tom’s. This keeps mics off until a actual hit like kick it let’s me bring them up no feedback or bleed.

I can’t find any info on using system micing all drums….  Any ideas as to what works for others.

aerouant.net. Has live videos of us we use Bose always. We are a 3 piece band with triggers also.  We need more info for hands on here.

I use a l1m2 24. And it is load enough for a band.  Bands need to realize no it’s not what your used to it’s not bone rattling loud. But what you hear crowd hears. Consistently through crowd.  The new 32’is 3 times more wattage so that’s my next get.  Bose needs to make an12 channel or 16 channel mixer like this they are the best!’n

Hi JD!

Noise gates are certainly useful when used on any 'boomy' drums (e.g. kick, toms) to maximise the impacts of the transients and minimise bleed from other parts of the kit.

There's a lot of info available online for tips and tricks on miking and processing drums - I find these two articles (Part 1 & Part 2) to be a good starting point.

Hope this helps!
