Using L1 II with Multi Instruments and vocals

I am using a L1 Model II with 2 B1 cabinets and T1. My wife and I play Jazz in small combos. I play an upright bass and she a archtop guitar. We both sing, but not at the same time. I would like to run the two instruments and two vocal mic all through this system. We play small to medium size venues and not to loud. Any pros out there have any suggestions to get a good sound. The vocal and guitar sound great together and I get just the sound I like with the bass being play by itself, however when the guitar, bass and the vocal are played together the bass seems a little muddy.
Thanks

Hi flatback,
Thank you for joining the Forum.

Greetings from the left coast of Canada.

Reading this, I’m wondering if there is much tonal overlap between the bass and the guitar.

I have frequently run bass, guitar, and two vocals through a single L1® and from that experience, I am confident that you can get a great sound with an ensemble like this.

Having said that, I find that running multiple overlapping inputs through any sound system can “muddy up” the sound.

Can you tell us more about the environments where you are experiencing the muddy sound?

I would check the gain staging on the T1® to make sure that none of the channels is clipping.

Gain Staging a channel with the T1®

Please watch the short video below. It is for the Model I, but the principles are the same.

Unfortunately there is no video for doing this on the T1® but the ideas are equally applicable.

Use the same microphone technique Steve describes in the video.

The colors on the T1® are a little different because the T1® trim uses 3 colors. You want to have a good solid green signal with occasional flickers of yellow.

If you are seeing flickers of red, turn down the trim.

For more detailed notes see: T1® Gain Staging.

Bass takes more power than Mids or highs if I remember right the ratio is 8(bass)to 1(highs).

is this what you had in mind?
Bass Guitar vocals thru L1 Second guitar is only thru amp. The guitar with the camera on it is thru the L1
