Using multiple systems together

I have an LII with a tonematch 4 and a subwoofer.  I am moving my system into a permanent space that is 17 and a half feet wide and 28 feet long.  I would like to create a true stereo line array for the room, with enough inputs for at least three acoustic guitars, three electric guitars, a bass guitar and three microphones.  I would like the system to double as my sound system for a screening room coupled with a projection TV.  Can I/should I replace the LII with two LI's or compacts (to be placed at the rear of a small stage seventeen feet apart), and can I combine my tone match 4 with a tone match 8?  Will I be able to send various signals to both towers as a stereo signal, or choose to send an instrument signal just to one "channel" of the stereo array for left right separation?  Am I understanding all this correctly, and is there a better way to achieve what I am trying to accomplish.  Thanks!

Hi DaveS,

Thanks for the interesting question. I'm sorry not to have gotten back to you sooner.  Let's check in on a couple of points.

It sounds like you plan to your set band and the sound systems on the 17.5-foot wall facing the long dimension of the room. Please confirm.

I would like to create a true stereo line array for the room, with enough inputs for at least three acoustic guitars,

Do the acoustic guitars have built-in preamps? If they have volume/tone controls, they do. If not, will you have external processors for the acoustic guitars?

three electric guitars, a bass guitar and

For the electric guitars and bass guitar, will you have separate instrument amplifiers or connect directly to the T4S/T8S mixer. If you aren't using amplifiers, you will probably want some guitar amplifier modelers (e.g., Line 6 Helix, Kemper Profiling Amp, Fractal Audio Axe-FX, Boss, or similar).

Will you have a live drum kit or electronic drums?

three microphones.

Are the microphones for vocals?

Will you use microphones for instruments?

I would like the system to double as my sound system for a screening room coupled with a projection TV.

Will you add a surround sound decoder and center, side, and rear speakers?

Can I/should I replace the LII with two LI's or compacts (to be placed at the rear of a small stage seventeen feet apart),

The L1 Compacts probably won't have enough low-end support for blockbuster movies or loud bass guitar.

Consider getting a second L1 Model II or Model 1S. In a room 17.5 x 28 feet, you may not notice the difference.

and can I combine my tone match 4 with a tone match 8?

Yes.

Connect the T4S Left and Right Outputs to the T8S Aux Inputs (channels 9/10).  On T8S channels 9/10 set the pan controls hard left and hard right.

Connect the T8S main outputs to your L1 systems.

Will I be able to send various signals to both towers as a stereo signal,

Yes.

or choose to send an instrument signal just to one "channel" of the stereo array for left right separation?

Yes.

Am I understanding all this correctly, and is there a better way to achieve what I am trying to accomplish.  Thanks!

Are you planning to add seating for an audience? How many people will be in the room?

How tall is the room?

Do you have acoustic treatment in the room?

What styles of music will you be performing live?

What styles of recorded music/movies will you be playing when not playing live?

Thanks,
