I am looking for help regarding the use of multitracks (backing tracks) with the L1. The kind of tracks I am interested in using are the split track type (left -right) where one side of the track plays the click & cues, and the other side plays the track only (without the click & cues). I am using them in a worship setting at my church. In a traditional setup (using in-ear monitors) the click & cue track is heard only in the in-ear monitor, while the audience hears the rest of the track. Since we don't need to use traditional monitors (or monitor mixes) with the L1, how do I accomplish the split track so that only I (and not the audience) can hear the click track? Thank you.
Steve
Hey Steve!
Thanks for your post. Firstly, a couple of questions to get a better understanding of your setup:
Which model in-ear monitors do you use?
What source device would you normally use to play the backing track?
Dylan,
Thanks for your reply. Since we are just considering implementing the multi tracks we have not yet purchased an in ear monitoring system. I am looking at the Shure SE215's controlled through a Behringer HA8000 headphone amp (this is a wired, rather than wireless system). The tracks would be played back through either my Macbook Pro or iPAD Pro, using a 1/8 inch TRS to Dual TS 1/4". On the Dual 1/4" TS cable, one side has the trax, and the other side has the click & cues (the multitracks are premade with this left-right split). I would be using the PRIME APP (made by Loop Community). Eventually, we could switch to Ableton somewhere down the road. Thanks for your time in looking into this. Steve
Hi Steve,
Thanks for this info. If you're planning to use the Behringer HA8000, this would give you the choice of sending either one of 2 main inputs to each headphone output. I'd recommend:
1. Connecting the left channel 1/4" from the MacBook Pro into the HA8000 Main Input 1 (Mono).
2. Connecting the right channel 1/4" from the MacBook Pro into the HA8000 Main Input 2 (Mono).
3. Connect one headphone output on the HA8000 to the Shure SE215 and select "IN 1" to listen to the track with the cues.
4. Connect a different headphone output on the HA8000 to the L1 system and select "IN 2" to play the track without cues through the speaker.
Let me know how this goes!
