For our acoustic duo, 2 guitars/2vocals, we’ve been using our 2 S1s as front of house speakers when we play outdoors for proper social distancing which typically means we play behind them. This makes it a bit difficult to hear our overall sound sometimes. Our Behringer 1200B mixer has a monitor out, but it requires a powered monitor as the signal from the mixer is too weak for the passive monitors I have. We’ve been so spoiled with our L1M2 where we stopped needing monitors.
Anyone have any recommendations for an inexpensive, battery powered monitor? We just need a little something so we can hear what our S1s are playing. I was thinking along the lines of a Hotspot.
Alternatively, I wonder if taking the 2nd S1’s (we daisy chain the 2 S1s) Line Out to a passive floor monitor might work? Of course we won’t have any way to regulate that monitor’s mix.

Can you put them behind you OR beside you and angle them in a bit?

My partner and I have played a bunch of gigs (under a canopy) with the 2 S1s on stands just in front of us (about 3' forward of the microphones - 3' -5' away from the mics) - 2 vocals and 2 guitars -- and can hear ourselves OK.
Behringer have a great battery powered speaker that could be used as a monitor. the Behringer MPA30 would be a great option. Battery operated and cheap. (might need to chock it up on its side, as it isn’t shaped to be a monitor. But for a couple of hundred (in Australia)
id really look at getting another S1 though, if you’re able. That way you know what’s going on in front of you too.

My first thought was another S1 -- looks like everyone else has the same idea!!
I re-read your post and the key word you've chosen is "inexpensive" ... that the S1 is not!
The Behringer MPA30 recommended by @Dantheman looks like a good option to look into.
Thanks all. We only need a monitor in some situations so getting another S1 would be way overkill. Thanks for the other suggestions that I’ll check out.
i forgot i have an old pignose battery amp that I’m going to try to see if that still works and that it sounds ok. We just need a touch of sound i cases where we have to put the S1s way out in front as we stay back 15 feet behind. A somewhat unusual setup, but one we’ve used to make the sound project across a couple of buildings while we stay back for social distancing. Not our typical setup however with gigs outside with Covid19 concerns it has become more commonplace than before.
Wonder if a battery powered boom box would work? If you know someone who tailgates at sporting events, ask them. They usually have loud battery powered speakers. They usually have a 1/8” input.
Otherwise, there are lots of portable, battery powered karaoke speakers on Amazon.
