Greetings fellow DJ’s!
I/we currently use tophitsusa for our new music releases for our music library.
What are you using and why? I am looking to see if there is a better service available as we have been using tophitsusa for as long as I can remember.
Thanks in advance!

I use promo only.
One Mainstream Radio and one Country.
18 to 20 tunes a month from each subscription.
I’m good for 20 weddings a year so I can’t justify spending more.
I use DJ Intelligence for our clients They normally request from 10 to 25 tunes for each wedding. I find myself downloading another 5 to 20 a month (usually off Amazon) to meet those requests.
Promo Only.
If you use Virtual Dj you can pay $10 a month a get pretty much any song available…and as long as you stay subscribed you have access to those songs.
Also look into using a service like SPOTIFY and Applian Replay Music
I am the odd one here. I’ve been getting ERG New Music Traxx for the past several years. I was doing PO, but changed because I had to get PO Radio & Country and I get 5 formats every 2 weeks with ERG.
All very interesting.
Given that I am sort of in the process of transitioning from working for a company that has a library, to my own setup/company, how did you guys build your library? was it from one of these services? Or was it as you went along.
As for the virtual DJ service, I have always had issues with music services that I would lose access if something happened to my account.
Also, given my new setup, I have a feeling that most of our current library is going to have to be reripped, because back in the day, my boss did not rip things at 320k. I am beginning to hear the difference in the songs when I play them back.
So I am trying to figure out the best way to rebuild our library, legally of course. We have all the original CDs from tophits, but it would take forever to rerip them. It would be nice I we could just download them from a service.

I started doing this for real 5 years back but I already had a significant music collection from doing this for peanuts for decades. I started by loading around 3000 of my own tunes into Ots AV DJ. Then I looked to services like DJ Intelligence for the top requests and added another 400 almost immediately. I’m currently at over 10,500 including remixes, mashups, videos, sound effects, some 450 popular karaoke tunes plus about 500 wedding ceremony music selections.
It seems like there is always something I need for a client. Last month I had a request for steel drum wedding music. I ended up buying about 40 steel drum tunes.
I have declined doing Halloween parties for a couple of years but, when I did, I picked up a bunch of appropriate tunes and spooky videos. Still have them in my data base, you never know.
It seems like 75% of what I play is probably the same 1000 tunes. Having or getting the other 25% can get expensive but you gotta do what you gotta do.
When my youngest daughter was 16 years old and looking for some par-time work for the summer, I hired her to rip my CD library.
I set-her up with an old laptop connected to an external HD, running Media Monkey and “Let Her Rip.” Sorry for the play on words. I found this to be the quickest and most cost effective way for me to convert.
If you don’t have anyone to do this, do it yourself in the same way ripping a few CDs an evening and you’ll be done before you know it. This is how I was doing it an was in fact making great progress.
I use Prime Cuts from Jones TM. Hardly ever not had a song that someone asks for when they say it is a "New’ song. I pay $48.50 a month but new subscribers I think is $52 or something.
Price Cuts for mee too!
