What to use with Acoustimass 3-Freespace 3 Business

Hi guys,

I have recently taken over a restaurant and in this restaurant there has been installed a Freespace 3 Business Set Up. All I can see is a Acoustimass module with some cables hooked into it.

How am I gonna be able to play music throught this system?

Will I need a receiver?

Please help me out, cause I would love to use these speakers and the set up, but I have no clue how and cannot find any clear info on the internet.

Thanks!

Hi Ollie,

If you can manage to get some pictures of the connector panel and wiring, it may be as simple as connecting an amplifier. The Acousitmass module is the front end for satellite speakers, either 2 or 4 of them. The amplifier connects to that, which in turn powers the satellites. If you can track the wiring down, that will tell us what you need to add (if any).

Reply here with some photos and we'll go from there.

Thanks,

Nick

So in the first image, the terminals where the satellites would connect are empty, which means that if you were to connect the system to an amplifier, all you'd hear is the bass frequencies, so not useful. The panel cover is concealing the terminal strip in the second image, so can't see anything there. You will need to find the other end of the wiring, where an amplifier is (or was). It's probably in a closet, office, tucked behind something. It appears that the 50W tap setting was used in this installation. You'll need a 70V amplifier to power this and the other module. For each Acoustimass Module, you'll need to use FreeSpace 3 satellites. These are available at any of our distributors in the US (Sweetwater, B&H, Full Compass, among others). You can use 2 or 4 satellites per bass module. You will also need an amplifier, such as the Bose IZA 190HZ to power the systems. Be sure to lower the tap setting of at least one of the systems to 25W if you choose this model. Otherwise, a higher output model (a tad more expensive), like the Bose IZA 2120HZ is available as well.

You can find installation instructions for the FreeSpace 3 system on pro.bose.com or by clicking this direct link.

Best,

Nick

The first one is in the restaurant and seems to be connected to the second one again again.
