We have had discussion in the past of what we, in the the DJ industry (long the red headed step child of the L1 product family) would like to see in terms of product and service evolution.
The includes enhancements, new products, software, etc. I would like to have a solid list put together no later than next Wednesday if you have the time to reply. Please also include in your “what”, the “why”.
For example, I would like to see a BOSE quality, light weight (40lbs or less), powered sub that lives up to the expectations of the Bose name
OR
juice up the B1 amp in the power stand.
Build a one or two space mixer which incorporates the features of the T1, the wired remote, and does so for stereo.
That should get things off the ground.
Agreed!!!
I’m with you Cap… those are my same thoughts… you read my mind!
Give me some more ammo, please folks.
If Bose were to toss a product on to the market that would make your MOBILE DJ audio life even better easier, with another client WOW impact, what would it be?
The L2 - Twice the sound - in the same size… maybe a different Low end delivery system with more power. Each unit would be rated at producing sound for 1000 people in stead of 500.
How about making a powered sub to compliment the L1 Compact specifically. The low end is the only thing keeping me from buying one or two to do DJ work with. I know there are work arounds for this but the BOSE name would sell me.
JD Bass, Vader, and Savan, Thank You!!
Keep it coming everyone.
somehow come up with a way to raise the L1's when neeeded
I’m a fan of stereo. As such, I’d love to see changes to the ToneMatch so that it would handle stereo signals without the workaround of using the Aux Out for one channel and the Main Out for the other channel.
I would also love to see sliders that would allow us to make better manual adjustments to the sound on the T1.
As for the bass response, I would like to see an optional powered bass subwoofer that would work equally with either the L1 Model II (or Classic or Model I0 or the L1 Compact. Personally, I don’t need the bass boost that so many DJs on this board seem to want, but I think having an add-on bass boost available would be a great idea.
I’d also like to have Bose expand the number of microphones that the ToneMatch recognizes and for which there are presets.
That’s off the top of my head. More later if my head gains any depth.
i would love to see everything you’ve listed. especially a sub for the compact and some type of onboard wireless technology for remoting compacts, although it would be great for any of the L1s.
I’d also love to see a T1-style mixer with at least one more mic input and at least one more stereo pair input.
As it is you can’t have a DJ controller and ipod backup hooked into the T1 simultaneously.
It would also be nice to have an IR remote that controlled at least the volume.
Easier stereo on T1 for sure.
Bose should offer some type of rolling case for the DJs. Either like the SKBs or even a larger one that would hold a complete L1M1 with 2 or 4 B1s.
The Compacts should also be a better shape for transport and storage. As it is they cannot be stacked which can be a major pain.
Think that’s it for now
- Stereo T1.
- I could use a crossover to use the packlite with compacts.
- I’m planning to make a support/base with rubber feet for my B1’s, it’s not a bad idea to have some support/base for the other models too.
-I agree with the issue concerning the compact’s shape mentioned by loveinthemix.
What Cap said All the way !
Here are four ideas-
1st— Wireless R1’s for existing systems.
2nd— Rolling case that holds two B1’s with locking wheels so that they can be used in the case at the gigs. Tis case would weigh no more than 8 pounds. Keeping the over all weight under 60 pounds. The wheels would slide off after pressing a button right by the casters (which would predominately be made of plastic to cut down on the weight). There would be a pouch/Velcro pocket to put the casters… if you wanted. The overall point of the caster coming off would be to make the B1’s in case stackable with other gear.
3rd— L1 covers… these little units would protect against spills at our gigs.
4th— Also Bose could make raiser that would fasten the L1’s down to them & be adjustable to 18" in height. These raisers would be just as study as an L1 on the ground with there awesome Bose design!
A Bose L1 system where the base is a 12" or 15" sub, with the L1’s on top. You only need to run 1 power cord, and an XLR into it. So instead of the power stand, you have a light weight sub that doubles as the stand with the amp built into it.
I would love to see a t1 that has 1/8 inch and rca inputs. I love that about the compact, but have come to love the T1 so much that those inputs dont get used very much.
wireless technology…with bose quality…would be great for my systems
maybe an “extender” for the model 1 and model 2, so instead of trying to raise the base, a sturdy 12-18 inch extender could go in the bottom…or the middle, so the top of the speaker could be extended when needed.
A simple Bose USB sound card designed to be used with a computer and the L1 family that any DJ or Musician could use with the mixer or controller of their choice. Must be stereo and simple to use. No need for any instrument inputs.
I don’t expect Bose to compete head to head with the likes of Pioneer or Denon to make a better DJ mixer or controller but a Bose USB sound card might make it possible to get the best of both.
It would also be great for musicians using computer sampling software like Band in a Box and Cakewalk for backing tracks. Again, with whatever mixer they or their band may prefer.
1 for an improved bass solution, both in terms of how low it goes and how punchy it is.
1 for a more regular shaped Compact to assist with transport and stacking.
The flap on the control panel of the L1 M1 to be hinged at the front instead of the rear. I’ve done this with duct tape, but it should have been this way by design, to help protect the panel from spills.
A PS1 bag/case that can be used while the L1 is operating. I had to have vinyl bags made specially for this purpose.
A more regular shaped PS1 for the M1, rather than the unusual horseshoe shape.
Cap,
This is an easy one.
How about a basic DJ mixer with the Tonematch Control from the T1. This way you would have a crossfader, jog wheel, cue control, multiple inputs, and RCA or 1/4" outputs.
Cap, I know you asked for strictly DJ purposes, however many times we as DJs have to perform the duties of Sound Engineer as well. Mackie makes a mixer for about $550 called the CF12FX, a 12 channel mixer with a center dial in the middle; where the Tone Match Engine could be.
Many of times when running sound for my band, I could get away with less than 10 channels. A Bose Live Sound Mixer would be more than awesome as well as a DJ mixer with functions a DJ could use.
Nice idea Bobby!
