Greg, Is there any answer as to why this is happening to so many people with the same exact model at the same exact time? Thanks
Not to butt-in, but is possible that a particular component or multiple components have a certain lifespan which leads to a reasonable summation that sincethe entire units were manufactured around the same time they would also fail around the same time.
Or the programmed internally clocked self bricking theory. Lol
Same thing happened with my Bose AWRCC1 two weeks ago and unplugging, etc., etc. doesn't fix it. I've already sent it out once for repair after the CD player quit. And quit again shortly after the warranty period. There's much to love about the Bose when they work - this was my second one and I should have known better, really.
Re "Please Wait" fault message on Bose Wave system.
Many thanks to all the contributors to this site, you have saved me much time and effort pursuing a mythical solution to an unidentified problem and made up my mind to junk the system and leap into the 21st century. My partner offered to buy me a Marshall Stanmore II for Christmas but I originally said no, I've got my Bose, it's fine and I can't justify an additional unit.
Now I can!! And, if that goes wrong, at least I have Alexa to shout at instead of a bland on-line message telling me to turn it off and then on again. Is it a straight replacement? No. Is it overpriced? Probably. Will I like it? I don't know, but it looks retro-fabulous! Have Bose lost me as a customer? Probably, although I have to say I love my Bose headphones. If anyone's interested I'll post again after Christmas with an update.
NB: Just in case anyone thinks this is an advertorial for Marshall, it's not. I have no connection with them apart from the fact that whenever I see the Marshall logo I'm transported back to a misty reverie of 70's rock. (Oh, and I did once meet Jim Marshall - name dropper or what?)
So here is some update:
I got my Bose system back after the repair. It probably can came back within 10 days of it being received at Bose repair center. The person I had spoken to for repair had given me 20% discount on repair charge of $119 plus free shipping label and free return shipping.
The system looks like new (from outside as well as inside by taking a peek). There is an accompanying letter which says that the following components were replaced:
1) CD drive, Slot Load, 12 CM Disc
2) Housing, WMS III, GRP, Serv
3) Slab Assy, WMS, DSP, RoHS, 03.02.01, SVCE
Now I don’t understand most of the above parts but I feel it is like completely new system. WMS III above should stand for wave music system. Housing should be the outer body. DSP should be the display (since, after repair, it also had the plastic sticker, as if it is a new part). Slab assy should stand for Slab assembly.
Anyways, I am happy with the condition after repair. Seems like they just replaced most of the parts (even though they might be working) because that’s part of their standard operating procedure.
Thanks
Manoj
Manoj,
Thanks so much for the detailed update! Could you please comment again in a couple of weeks to let us know that it is still working well. I'd really appreciate it.
Best, Lois

I also have the rexact problem. Wave ii model ARW1B2 purchased around 2006.
Yup...My 10 year old Bose Radio just gave me the finger also. So, for 120 bucks, I can send this in and get it fixed OR I can buy the Bose older Bose Acoustic wave radio, that orginally sold for 1000 dollars and has superior sound. I spent my money on the older, reliable Bose Acoustic Wave. This broke Bose Wave radio I got now will be put into a closet until Bose comes out with a cure for all of our radios instead of sending them 120 bucks. Funny, that these all broke around this time.
Mine failed today. That's why I found this thread.
I'm cheap as heck. The Wave is/was a good product, but electronics don't last forever. While I would prefer to have it repaired at no cost, $120 is still a lot less expensive than a new device. With any luck it will last another 10 years.
I just got off the phone with the very lovely folks at Bose. As indicated here, for $119 local tax, my Wave will be repaired and shipped back to me as quickly as possible, and should run for another 10 years.
I mentioned that some folks here had received a 25% discount... so my total will be $94.83 including everything.
Thanks to you all for participating in this discussion.
I hope you all have satisfactory results with your Bose products.
