No, that's a documented 'feature', the batteries go into 'sleep mode' after 30 days. Most people who have the issue find their batteries lose a significant amount of charge in just a few days.
Went to Mexico for ten days. Fully charged my two S1-Pros before leaving. Today, 11 or 12 days later, both my units are stone dead and needing recharging. Recharging now. I'll see how long it takes to get back to full charge and report back...
Also, looking through my mail for the last two weeks and a see JBL is now coming out with a EON One Compact to go head-to-head with the S1Pro. I love my Bose sound so I plan to stay with it, but this new kid on the block with an alleged 12 hour battery life might give Bose a reason to get their battery issues resolved sooner rather than later. One can only hope...
Hi pdea23,
pdea23 posted:Been experimenting checking my batteries on my two S1's by leaving them fully charged and left unused for 5 weeks at a time, to find that the batteries appear to be discharged, and units won't switch on. But have found that they are actually still fully charged, and have gone back into SLEEP MODE and need reawakening by plugging the S1 into the mains for 10 seconds, after which they work perfectly and show 4 flashes.
The SLEEP MODE is a design feature of the battery.
This might be what is happening to other peoples batteries as well.
You don't have the issue being discussion here (battery draining when S1 Pro system not in use) .

Bose doesn't need any greater incentive to deal with the battery issue.

What's disappointing to me is Bose has been around since I was a baby. All my life I wanted Bose gear. I finally invest in it and figured spending the extra money on quality gear is something to be proud of. I do love the way the S1 sounds and looks. It's just perplexing that the issue is not fixed. It really makes no sense. Unless the s1 was just a "one off" model and never going to be sold again. So, why fix the ones having issues? It's perhaps a line of speakers they are going to get away from anyways?
Is this common for Bose not to fix an issue?

I'm sorry it has taken so long. Bose is working on the issue. There will be a support option for people who have the problem.
Sincerely,

When? I think a lot of us are growing impatient. Bose supposedly identified the issue and the fix many months ago. This is an inordinate amount of time to implement the fix. And without explanation. We're frustrated. We spent a LOT of money on these.

I understand you are growing impatient.
The solution is coming. Bose doesn't do interim reports because circumstances can change, and dates get pushed out.
In the meantime - for those reading along:
The battery drain issue does not affect the performance at a gig.
The battery drain only happens when the S1 Pro system is off and not connected to AC power (regardless of the position of the power switch).
If you plan to leave the system idle for a long time, you can remove the battery. Please see: S1 Pro Battery Installation and Removal
Please note: If the battery is idle for 30 days it will go into Sleep Mode regardless of whether or not it is installed in the S1 Pro. To wake the battery from Sleep Mode it must be installed in the S1 Pro. Then connect the S1 Pro to AC power and turn on the power.
As with any battery-powered device, you want to check the battery level and charge it up if necessary before taking it out to a show.

FYI: It took 3.5 to 4 hours.
14 day update and the new S1 Pro is showing 100% after 14 days so it's looking promising but I'll continue to monitor.
Ok, checked it again tonight and it's down to 90% so it definitely has the issue Any sign of a cure yet?

Thanks ST, I have subscribed to that thread but it's over a year since the first post in this one
Almost pulled the trigger on some. Glad I found this post before I did!
TBH it's not a problem for most people, only if you need to be able to leave it without charging for a couple of weeks. If you use it regularly and have a charging regime in place you would probably never find you had the issue.
Understood, but for the money, I'd expect better and I'd expect a better fix time than a year.
Yeah, me too.......
14 day update:- checked my S1 Pro again this afternoon and after two weeks it is down to 70% and the drain seems to be accelerating as it falls (it took over 10 days to fall to 90%, now, 4 days later it is at 70%). I need to use it on Monday so will have to charge it Sunday but will check it again before plugging it in.
