I updated the new firmware over 2 weeks ago and still fully charged. I’m not about to send mine in for repair at this point.
Thank you all for sending updates, it sounds very promising. I have the same problem with both my S1 Pros but did not bother sending them back to Bose as they will just replace it with refurbished ones.
Yes.
I think we can stop this now....

ST
It’s all fine. They were totally taking care of me. We just got stopped in our tracks by the pandemic. I trust we’ll conclude the saga once people can safely return to work some day.
Everyone stay safe and healthy!
Maybe planning to do a little playing for the neighbours at some point, obviously the S1's will be first choice but I do have alternatives, including a little Epiphone Valve Junior I modified for battery power a few years ago (excellent for electric guitar or archtop jazz box) and a couple of inverter power packs (though, realistically, in that case I'd just run an extension cable from the garage).
Eddy, yours seem to be well sorted
They are still drawing more current in standby than they should if 'off meant off' but if they were all like that out of the box we'd never have discovered 'the issue' ![]()
The pandemic does put things into perspective little.......
Thanks David for clarifying. I'm sure Bose will take care of you in due time. In the meantime, enjoy your S1Pros!
Sam Spoons posted:My second S1 fell below 90% after less than 21 days (>18 days, <21 days). Updated the FW and it has now reached day 23 and its still showing 100%.
Since I can no longer edit this post, I'm going to correct a senior moment, brought on by poor record keeping. My second S1 fell to <90% in less than four days, now, after updating the firmware to 7.1.7 it is on day 23 and still registering 100% in the app. Clearly that is a dramatic improvement.
Thanks for the report and correction Sam. Experiences such as yours are great to hear! I was worried about the second S1 I acquired, but after updating the firmware and some casual observations, things seem to be stable for me too. Which is great as I love playing through the S1s in the outdoor circumstances we are now playing in.
Stay safe!
Another update: Both my S1Pros are still at 90 percent and four flashes after 13 weeks (91 days). I have tested each unit 42 times during this test. Both units dropped from 100 to 90 percent in 30 days and have held at 90 percent since -- for 61 days. I was waiting to see when the units will drop to 80 percent but at this point if the level of performance stays at 90 percent, I am considering dropping the test at 100 days.
Well done Archtop Eddy! While it seems your observations have proved that the drainage issue has been sufficiently resolved, this long term testing will bring things to a conclusive end and put folks mind at ease.
Furthermore, if I’m not using my S1s for 80-100 days, I’d probably take the batteries out after a full recharge anyway and bypass any issues.

Probably safer to run the battery down to around 70% before storage, do some reading up on the Boeing Dreamliner battery problem if you want more info (but beware, it'll probably put you off flying)....
I have 2 S1 Pros. One is 3 years old and never had an issue until I updated the FW (not the very latest one). It would not even turn on until I plugged it in.
I never suspected it at first (kept thinking my kids were messing with it!) then I brought a 2nd unit 12 months ago or so....straight away was draining quick when off (and battery in).
I just did the latest FW update on that 2nd unit 7 days ago and all good on 4 blues still. I'll now do the update on the older unit and hopefully all good. My first S1 Pro (3 FW updates ago) would hold for months on end....on my own admission Im a little lazy checking them at times....
@xmanoz I had an older S1 without the battery issue and a newer on that did. I updated to the latest firmware on both and no battery drainage issues on either. So the firmware update fixed the newer S1 with no downside issues with the older S1. Just so you can feel comfortable that the new firmware update is solid and works well on both old and the new.
The later firmware has some additional features that enhance the Bose Connect app to play through 2 S1s in stereo and show a more precise battery charge level indicator. Therefore, well worth the effort to update the units.
Greetings. I just received my first Bose purchase, an S1 Pro!
May I know please, how could I precisely tell how much charge the battery has? I have the sticker that says the approximate charge based on the blinking rhythm, but would appreciate to know if there is another method.
I want to make sure the unit doesn't have the drain issue. According to the Connect App, mine was manufactured on November 18, 2019.
Thanks for your kind help!

Bose Connect app
Please check the battery level indicator at the bottom right corner of the Bose Connect app. Disconnect the S1 Pro from AC power and you will see a number indicating the percentage of battery charge available. This goes up and down in increments of 10%.
Before you do anything about the battery, please make sure your firmware is up to date by following this link.

OK, I finally got around to doing a "battery draining" test. Both my S1s had the problem, one was a replacement of the original. I had decided not to send the units back to Bose because, in real world use, the problem didn't really affect me.
I have updated both to the most current version of the firmware. I'm now happy to report that after 1 week of sitting unplugged, I'm still showing 100% on the Bose Connect App. I'm leaving them unplugged and will check them every week for a while. I'll report back in a month or so and let you know how it looks. At this point in time, It appears that the firmware is resolving the problem!
Mentioning the Bose Connect App, does anyone else find that connecting a second S1 is not an exact science? Sometimes, they connect up no problem, sometimes you have to really work at it to get them both paired and working with the app. This morning, I had to keep turning the S1s off/on, putting the S1s in pair mode and retrying with the app, etc. After 4 or 5 tries, it finally linked the 2 S1s together and worked fine. Perhaps there's something that I'm doing incorrectly but whatever it is, I do it the same every time and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When trying to link the speakers, the app has a button for "find another speaker". I press that and it doesn't even find the other S1. There's an icon for other speakers that flips through pics of speakers that I don't have...occasionally, the list will include an S1 but that doesn't seem to make a difference.
Folks have been great about sharing their experiences regarding the battery drain issue after the newest firmware updates. Most report that the drainage issue has been resolved and I’ve witnessed the same thing with my S1s. So thanks for the confirmation.
Sorry to say I have no insight in the app pairing. Haven’t done that yet.
Have you seen the info on this link? If not, perhaps it may shed some light.
