I have my T1 connected to my iMac via the USB to PC connection. I can get the T1 to work with GarageBand but I just can’t connect to the OBS app? I have the midi sound set correctly for the Bose USB Audio input but I’m just not getting it to go through the OBS app?
Is there anybody out there live-streaming with the setup that can share their settings? I have acoustic and vocals running to the Bose.
You might try an OBS forum. The other thing I've run into is a bitrate mismatch in the settings... For example GarageBand is fixed at 44.1 kHz so if you use an interface set at 48 khz it won't work. That would we one other thing to check in the settings. Sorry I can't offer specific help to OBS.
You mentioned having the T1 as "midi sound" ... I don't have that as an option. I have used the T1 set up as a "Audio Input Capture" device in OBS, however, I'm on a PC. I don't know if the terminology is different between OBS Studio for PC and OBS Studio for Mac.
With the T1, I did find that I had to have the channel volumes and master volume turned very high to get a robust signal, and even added some boost in the Mic/Aux "Advanced Audio Properties".
Sorry I misspoke about the midi input, I meant to say audio. The faders for the volume are shaded gray and there’s no moving them to adjust volume. Someone in the OBS forum said that Mac doesn’t recognize the signal and another program need to be used to direct that signal. He uses Loopback by Rogue Amoeba. Thanks for your reply!
I have been streaming with OBS and my T4s for four weeks now....what an education.
Last couple weeks I went USB out Bose into my Macbook Pro. Pick Bose T4S as your audio device in settings / Audio / Mic/Auxillary Audio. You should see your mixer in the drop down list. I had problems where I didn't see the USB from Bose. Its important the order you plug in and turn on the mixer...When you turn on the mixer if you don't see USB OUT flash on the screen, You won't see it in OBS.
Do some test recordings to get the mix right.....it took me awhile to get something to sound decent....way better than the iPhone mic.
Good day! I am trying to live stream with my MacBook Pro, T8 mixer, OBS stream software and Youtube. I can get the signal from the mixer to my MacBook Pro, ( changed the settings in the MacBook Pro to recognize the T8 mixer), My OBS recognizes the T8 Mixer and when I test to Youtube, I can hear/see everything but there is a horrible static when I sing or play my guitar. I have tried turning down the Trim and Gain on the mixer as well as the gain/trim on my OBS system. It still distorts every time I try to sing or play my instrument. Can you help? Thank you!
Are you using the Aux outs? Is your USB connection sound? Make sure you have the Mono button selected too if you are panned mono like lots of us. Turn off all the channels you are not using. Also if you are using other scenes and video Capture devices make sure all those Mic/Aux tracks are muted. If you have a video camera with a mic make sure that is muted. Good luck...learning broadcasting is not trivial.
Thank you for your prompt response. I am using (only) the USB out from the T8 into the Mac. Not sure what you mean regarding the "Mono" button? Where would I find that? All channels are off with exception to the one(s) I am using. I am not (currently) using any video capture except the MacBook Pro itself. No scenes being used at this time. I am using one vocal mic and one acoustic guitar out of the T8. Please see photo attached.
If you click on the gear in the audio mixer area and select the Advanced Audio Properties you will see this pop up. The third choice from the left is a Mono checkbox. I also had to set a Sync offset to get my video to sync with the audio. In your pic I see you are using one output like most of us. Are you routing the aux outputs to the USB or the master outputs? I recommend to use the Aux Outs so you can get plenty of signal to OBS. Keep your master at proper listening levels. Good luck.
Thank you again. I did set the checkbox to Mono and the sync offset per your instructions. I am still confused about routing the Aux or master outputs. Are you saying I should (other than using the USB cable connection) route cable from either the Aux/Master on the back of the T8 to my MacBook Pro? If so, how does one accomplish that since the MacBook Pro does not have the ability to accept those types of cables? Thank you again!
The USB cable is correct. But you have to route what you want to the USB Out. With the Aux/Pan you can route your channels to Aux1. I used 75% on mine. Then under Prefs Utility you go to USB to PC. By default the Left and Right have the Masters out routed to the USB out to PC. You can and should change those to Aux 1 for both Left and Right. Hopefully that fixes it.
Thank you so much! I will do this and let you know how it works out. Last question (hopefully); Do I need to change everything back to their defaults if I intend to do a normal "live" show? If so, I want to carefully chart how I do this so as not to get it tangled up.
The answer is it depends. I don't use my aux outs usually so everything stays the same. I do some shows where I have to send a mix to an in house system where I use the aux outs so then I usually have to adjust them up from the settings I use for OBS. If you want to you could save a scene just for your OBS broadcasts and a scene for your life setup. Keep in mind:
• A scene remembers all ToneMatch mixer settings, and the status of the Mute, FXMute, and CH Edit buttons.
• A scene does not remember channel trim, channel volume levels, Master volume level, headphone level or the Phantom power switch position.
Well, it did not work. Here is my log of everything I did. Can't think of what I am doing wrong.
Live Stream Procedures/Audio
On My Mac
Plug in the T8 Bose Mixer
Go to System Preferences and go to “sound”
Under “input” check Bose T8S Tonematch
Under “output” check Bose T8S Tonematch
In OBS Software
In “Audio Mixer” click on the gear box and go to Advanced Audio Properties
Make sure volume is at -6.6db (saw that on your attachment)
Make sure “Mono” is Checked
Make sure “Sync Offset is at 22ms (saw that on your attachment)
Make sure that “Audio Monitoring” is set to “Monitor Off” (may need to turn this on later).
In “Settings” go to “Audio”
Under “Devices” make sure that Mic/Auxiliary Audio reads “T8S Tonematch“
Under “Advanced” make sure that the “Monitoring Device” reads T8S Tonematch
In the T8S Tonematch
Go to “Pan/Aux and for each channel you are going to use (1-4) set to “Aux Send 1”
Change the from 50% (default) to 75%
Go to “Prefs Utility” and set to “USB to PC. By default the Left and Right have the Masters out routed to the USB out to PC. Change those to Aux 1 for both Left and Right.
When you go to settings / audio and you set this to the Ts8 make sure to hit Apply in the lower left.....I missed that a couple times when doing my setup.
Thank you again, I have checked and re-checked all my work/connections. I even tried to contact Bose via telephone but because of the pandemic they will not take phone calls as they are understaffed. I tried prosupport@bose.com and could not get anywhere. it was all about purchasing their products. I am frustrated as I think I am so close but can't seem to figure this out. It makes sense that one can hook up a computer, mixer and live stream.
If the T8S is being recognized by the Mac and you can record/playback with other software like Garageband or Audacity, then the T8S and connection through to the Mac are fine.

Getting you going on OBS is outside of the scope of T8S support from Bose, but that's why we have this community; to create a space where Bose customers can share experiences. Again - thanks Moon Dog.
Not having any experience with OBS, I'm sorry I can't offer any suggestions there.
It's encouraging that Moon Dog has been able to use OBS with the T4S.
